Ref: B031
€ 430.00
Low table composed of 2 antique chilabete drawers, 2 safety glass, 1 thick solid pine base, and 4 rustic-style solid beam wood legs. Very robust and consistent cabinet.
The table has 2 old original chibalete drawers, made of solid wood, restored and a solid pine wood base. One drawer has 210 compartments and the other 115. Each compartment has been restored on all sides. These compartments are decorated with dried flowers, stones of different colors, salts or small collectibles to suit the consumer. The crystals enhance the colors of the interior objects, with the great advantage that if the decorative objects and the arrangement of the colors are changed, we obtain a new and different table. If you need it, we can attach photos of another similar table of the same style already decorated. Ideal to place in the living room in front of the sofa, armchairs, in a store or commercial premises with a rustic – vintage atmosphere.
The chilabete, from the French “chevalet”, is a piece of furniture that was formerly used in printing presses on which the typographers composed the texts and pages with lead letters. The letters were kept in these drawers. Each drawer was used to store a set of several hundred letters and symbols of a single typeface with a specific body.
These types of pieces are highly valued today. They are the witnesses of a past time in which everything was done by hand, with time and patience. Each day that passes they become more difficult to find in good condition. The chilabete box has become an icon of the industrial world of the 20th century.
